Vigilbase vs Google Security Operations

A cloud SIEM and SOAR you build on, or an operating layer across your security tools? Compare coverage, investigations, and who controls the response.

Google Security Operations, formerly Chronicle, is a cloud SIEM and SOAR: your team ingests data, writes detection rules, and builds playbooks on Google’s infrastructure. Vigilbase is the cybersecurity operating system: it connects the security tools you already pay for, analyzes their events, and has the Vigil agent investigate and respond within the authority you set.

The short answer

Choose Vigilbase when you want your security tools operating together without first building a detection rule library and a playbook catalog.

Keep Google Security Operations when your team depends on its search at scale, YARA-L detection rules, and SOAR playbooks, or when a large Google Cloud estate makes its data model the natural home.

Run both when Google Security Operations remains your long-term search and archive layer and Vigilbase runs day-to-day operations across the tools it connects. Vigilbase does not read from Google Security Operations, so confirm how data reaches each system.

How they actually differ

Google Security Operations gives a security engineering team a large-scale platform to build on. Vigilbase gives the whole team an operating system that already knows its tools.

Each native connector knows its provider’s datasets, so events arrive in a common schema with analysis already switched on. You do not have to build a detection library before the platform is useful.

Native connectors cover edge, identity, endpoint, network, cloud, and email security, including Cloudflare, Akamai, Fastly, Imperva, Microsoft 365 and Entra ID, Google Workspace, Okta, CrowdStrike Falcon, SentinelOne, Microsoft Defender XDR, Palo Alto Networks, Fortinet, Zscaler, AWS, Google Cloud, Proofpoint, and Mimecast. Log collection and analysis differ by provider, and a connection does not mean every response action is available. Where the platform cannot act directly, the investigation returns the steps for your team to complete.

What the operating system adds

Every connected tool feeds one auditable record. Each team gets dashboards over that record, and the Vigil agent opens investigations on high-severity incidents instead of waiting for someone to write a rule.

You choose the autonomy: keep actions off, propose them for approval, or allow low-risk, reversible actions to run. Agents work from evidence and remediate in scope. Humans set authority, approve changes when required, and handle exceptions. The record shows the investigation, actions taken, and verification results.

Google Security Operations in depth

Google Security Operations combines SIEM, SOAR, and applied threat intelligence. Gemini features help analysts search in natural language, summarize cases, and draft detections and playbooks.

It is sold in Standard, Enterprise, and Enterprise Plus packages, sized by data ingestion. Its strength is fast search across large volumes of retained security telemetry.

Tools without a native connector can send Splunk HTTP Event Collector-compatible logs to a custom source. Those logs are stored alongside your other sources, but they are not analyzed automatically and carry no response actions.

Pricing and scope

Compare written quotes for the same connected systems, data volume, retention, operating responsibilities, and response authority. Cloudflare Enterprise licensing and Managed Cloudflare have their own agreed scope. We do not claim a universal savings percentage or bundled coverage.

Google Security Operations packages are quoted on ingestion and package tier. Compare the package, data volume, retention, and the engineering time needed to build and maintain detections and playbooks.

Default retention is set per dataset, typically 30 to 90 days. If you need a long-term archive or compliance retention, decide where that data lives before you consolidate.

How to choose

Start with the tools you already pay for and the security work you need done. On a discovery call, we map that stack onto the platform and show you the operating system live, including a representative investigation, a permitted response, and its verification record.

If your current Google Security Operations workflow remains necessary, retain it while validating Vigilbase against the agreed scope. A migration plan should establish data coverage, response ownership, and acceptance checks before any cutover.

Frequently asked questions

Can Vigilbase replace Google Security Operations?

For day-to-day security operations across the tools Vigilbase connects, it can take on the work. It is not a blanket replacement: keep Google Security Operations when you depend on its search at scale, custom detection rules, SOAR playbooks, long-term retention, or data from sources Vigilbase does not connect. What does “cybersecurity operating system” mean?

It is the layer that runs across your security tools rather than another tool beside them. Vigilbase connects the products you already pay for, puts their events in one auditable record, gives each team dashboards over that record, and has the Vigil agent investigate and act within the authority you set.Get started with the Vigilbase PlatformSupported integrations and operating scope

Does Vigilbase connect to Google Cloud and Google Workspace?

Yes. Vigilbase connects natively to Google Cloud and Google Workspace. It does not connect to Google Security Operations itself, so its rules and playbooks stay there.Supported integrations and operating scopeWhat a SIEM does
