Zscaler vs Cloudflare One

Both replace VPNs and inspect user traffic in the cloud. Pick Zscaler when ZIA and ZPA already carry your users and the policies work. Pick Cloudflare One when you want Zero Trust access, a secure web gateway, and your public apps' CDN, WAF, and DDoS protection on one network, from one vendor.

Zscaler and Cloudflare One details on this page are summarized from each vendor's public product, documentation, and pricing pages. Features, packaging, and prices change, so confirm current terms with each vendor before you buy.

That is the split. The rest is architecture, packaging, and who runs the platform after you buy it.

When to use each

Use Zscaler if your users already reach the internet and private apps through Zscaler Internet Access (ZIA) and Zscaler Private Access (ZPA). Zscaler describes ZIA as a proxy architecture that inspects TLS traffic at scale, with a secure web gateway, zero trust firewall, IPS, DNS security, cloud sandbox, browser isolation, CASB, and inline DLP. ZPA brokers one-to-one connections between authorized users and specific apps, so users never join the corporate network and apps are not exposed to the public internet.

Use Cloudflare One if you want SASE on the same network that serves and protects your public websites and APIs. Cloudflare One combines Access for Zero Trust application access, a Secure Web Gateway for DNS, network, HTTP, and egress filtering, Cloudflare Tunnel, the Cloudflare One Client on devices, CASB, DLP, Remote Browser Isolation, Email security, and Cloudflare WAN for branches and data centers, under one control plane.

If you only need to secure workforce traffic, both can do the job, so test them with your own users, apps, and identity provider. If you also want one vendor for the public edge, look at scope: Zscaler's product list covers users, workloads, branches, and private apps, and does not include a CDN or a web application firewall for your public websites.

How ZIA and ZPA map to Cloudflare One

Zscaler Internet Access protects users when they browse the internet or use SaaS apps. Its closest Cloudflare One counterpart is the Secure Web Gateway, with CASB, DLP, and Remote Browser Isolation for SaaS and data controls.

Zscaler Private Access connects users to private apps without a VPN. Its closest Cloudflare One counterparts are Access, which authenticates every request to an application, and Cloudflare Tunnel, which connects your apps to Cloudflare through outbound-only connections from the lightweight cloudflared daemon, so the app needs no public IP address.

For user experience, Zscaler Digital Experience (ZDX) detects app, network, and device issues, and Cloudflare One has Digital Experience Monitoring (DEX) for the same job. For branches, Zscaler offers Zero Trust Branch, and Cloudflare offers Cloudflare WAN over IPsec, GRE, or direct interconnect, with Cloudflare Network Firewall as firewall-as-a-service.

These mappings are approximate. Feature depth differs by product and plan, so compare the controls your policies actually use.

Network and coverage

Zscaler says its platform runs in more than 200 data centers. Cloudflare's network page lists 348 cities in more than 100 countries and says every service runs in every data center. The counts are measured differently and do not tell you the latency your users will see. Pilot from the offices and countries where your people work, with your identity provider and your heaviest SaaS apps in the test.

Pricing and packaging

Zscaler's pricing page lists two platform bundles, Essentials Platform and Zscaler Platform, with add-ons for capabilities such as digital experience monitoring, privileged remote access, and Zero Trust Branch. Some products, including ZPA, are also sold on their own. The page lists no prices; buyers contact Zscaler for a quote.

Cloudflare One subscriptions are made of seats. A user consumes one seat when they authenticate through Access or when their device connects through Gateway, however many apps they use. Cloudflare asks SASE buyers to contact its sales team for packaging. Through Vigilbase, Cloudflare One is licensed as Cloudflare Enterprise, in our Interna package for staff and internal apps, and scoped together with Managed Cloudflare operations.

Already run Zscaler?

You do not have to replace Zscaler to use Vigilbase. Vigilbase OS, the cybersecurity operating system, has a native Zscaler connector. Zscaler events land in one auditable, queryable record alongside your other security tools, and the Vigil agent investigates high-severity incidents while Vigilbase analysts handle exceptions.

Log collection and analysis differ by provider, and live response actions run only where Vigilbase OS supports them, which is Cloudflare today. For Zscaler, the investigation returns the steps for your team to complete.

How Vigilbase fits

Vigilbase licenses Cloudflare Enterprise and operates it as Managed Cloudflare; we are not a Zscaler reseller. We can scope Cloudflare One for your users and apps, plan a phased move off VPN or another security service edge, and run Access, Gateway, and incidents after go-live. Agents work from evidence and remediate in scope. Humans set the authority, approve changes when required, and handle exceptions.

If Zscaler is working and the requirement is only workforce access, keep it and connect it to Vigilbase OS. If you want Zero Trust and the public edge on one Cloudflare deployment with an operator on it, that is the conversation we will have.

Frequently asked questions

Is Cloudflare One a good alternative to Zscaler?

It can be. Cloudflare One covers the same core jobs as ZIA and ZPA: a secure web gateway for internet and SaaS traffic, and Zero Trust access to private apps without a VPN. Whether it fits depends on the policies, identity provider, devices, and apps you run today, so pilot both with real users before you decide. The main difference is scope. Cloudflare's network also runs its CDN, WAF, and DDoS protection for public applications. If you do not need that, judge the two on workforce security alone.Internal access and Zero TrustSASE architecture explained

What is the Cloudflare equivalent of Zscaler ZIA and ZPA?

The closest counterpart to ZIA is Cloudflare's Secure Web Gateway, with CASB, DLP, and Remote Browser Isolation for SaaS and data controls. The closest counterpart to ZPA is Cloudflare Access with Cloudflare Tunnel, which connects private apps to Cloudflare through outbound-only connections. How do Zscaler and Cloudflare One pricing compare?

Zscaler sells platform bundles with add-ons and lists no prices on its pricing page. Cloudflare One subscriptions are counted in seats, one per active user, and Cloudflare asks SASE buyers to contact sales for packaging. Can I use Cloudflare for my websites and keep Zscaler for my users?

Yes. They protect different traffic. Cloudflare's CDN, WAF, and DDoS protection sit in front of your public websites and APIs, while Zscaler secures how your staff reach the internet and private apps. How do I move from Zscaler to Cloudflare One?

Plan it in phases. Map your Zscaler policies, connect your identity provider, and pilot a representative user group with the Cloudflare One Client. Move private apps behind Access and Cloudflare Tunnel one at a time, keep a rollback path, and retire Zscaler policies only after access and inspection are verified.Internal access and Zero TrustChoose who operates Cloudflare
